The Fall Fishing Trip That Hooked Me and Might Hook You

A story to retell for a lifetime.

My introduction to autumn fishing for Great Lakes kings, coho, and steelhead came from a friend named Stan, who called one fall and said, “Come up to the Salmon River with me.” I went. I caught my first New York salmon that trip. And I’ve been back almost every year since.

Born in freshwater streams, they move to the ocean to feed and grow, and then return to the stream to spawn and die. And along the way, we might just be lucky enough to hook a couple of these beautiful monsters.

The Big Catch

Here they are—your catches, your stories, your proud moments on the water.
Submitted by you, shared by us. From record-setting lunkers to the ones that got away (but you got the photo!), every fish tells a tale. Big or small, it’s not just about the catch—it’s about the memory, the company, and the thrill of the fight. Thanks for letting us be part of your fishing story.
