Big catches and record-breaking moments headline this week’s fishing news. Minnesota’s Department of Natural Resources has certified a new catch-and-release lake trout record after 68-year-old Joe Bouta landed a 45.5-inch fish on Lake Superior in early May. Remarkably, it was only the second lake trout Bouta had ever caught, with his first coming just 10 minutes earlier. Guided by Ethan Waytashek, Bouta battled the fish for 10 minutes before landing it. The catch marks the fourth state record caught on a Waytashek-guided trip in two years. Read More
